The Prophet Muhammed ﷺ is called Mercy of all worlds. What is more, it extends beyond Muslims alone and includes for all mankind and His entire creation. His words, deeds, and character embody the dignity, respect, and well-being of all people.
Respect for Every Human Being
The Prophet ﷺ said:
“No Arab has any superiority over a non-Arab, nor a non-Arab over an Arab, nor a white over a black, nor a black over a white—except by piety and good action.”
(Farewell Sermon, Musnad Ahmad 23408)
This instruction emphasizes the equality of and basic human rights, long before modern ideas of liberty.
Mercy in Daily Life
He never discriminated against anyone — rich or poor, believer or non-believer. When a Jew disputed with him, the Mawla received no abuse or violence from him (the Prophet ﷺ) but maintained polite speech and showed moral pre-eminence.
Charity for the Frail and Feeble
He ﷺ would always advise his companions,
“The most beloved of people according to Allah is he who brings most benefit, and the most beloved of deeds according to Allah the Mighty, the Magnificent, is that you bring happiness to a fellow Muslim, or relieve him of distress, or pay off his debt, or stave away hunger from them.
(Sunan al-Mu‘jam al-Awsat, 5787 – Hasan)
Orphans, widows, and the poor received protection and care in his community. He directed Zakat (alms) to provide social support centuries before modern welfare systems.
Mercy Toward Enemies
When Makkah was taken, he forgave the Quraysh. This showed that justice does not require revenge. Abu Sufyan, who had opposed him for decades, later stated:
“I have never seen anyone more generous, forgiving, or noble than Muhammad ﷺ.”
Such actions reflect a shared humanity that resonates with everyone.
Universal Teachings
The Prophet ﷺ encouraged truthfulness, patience, and kindness as common values. He prohibited lying, cheating, and oppression:
“Help your brother, whether he is an oppressor or oppressed.”
They asked, “O Messenger of Allah, we help the oppressed, but how do we help the oppressor?” He replied: “By restraining him from injustice.”
(Sahih Muslim, 2565)
This reveals his concern for social harmony and justice for all.
Conclusion
Muhammad ﷺ is not just a prophet for one group; he serves as a model of ethical, humane behavior for all people. His teachings touch hearts across time and space, making him universally admired.
