Prophet Muhammad ﷺ is called a mercy to all worlds (Surah Al-Anbiya 21:107). Although he is boundless in time and space. People of all faiths, crackers, and petty bourgeois called his beings with the spirit of mercy. The Prophet Muhammad (pbuh) taught love that crossed borders, faiths, and hearts.
Mercy Across Religions
Even non-Muslims could see his kindness. In the conquest of Makkah, those who fought against them—polytheists, Jews—were still allowed to live freely according to their beliefs later on. Once a staunch enemy of Prophet Muhammad, remarked:
"I have never seen anyone more generous, more forgiving, or better in his manners than Prophet Muhammad pbuh.”
(Seerah: Ibn Hisham)
This showed that he wasn't picking and choosing when it came to his compassion; it spanned different belief systems.
Kindness to Strangers and Travelers
His followers were told to treat guests and travelers well:
"Whoever believes in Allah and the Last Day should honor his guest."
(Sahih al-Bukhari, 6018)
Travelers, merchants, and even enemies within his city were all able to live safely and affordably. As a result, the whole world looked up to this town.
Mercy Toward the Poor and Marginalized
In more than one Hadith, the Prophet ﷺ said: “The one who looks after an orphan, and myself will be together in Paradise like this.” (Sahih al-Bukhari, 5304)
As he spoke, he ﷺ gestured with his fingers. He taught that mercy should not be confined to any one group but extends to all human beings including women, children, the elderly, and the poor.
Mercy Extended to Animals
He forbid cruelty to animals saying, “A woman put a cat in a cage and did not feed it; therefore she was tormented in Hell.” (Sahih al-Bukhari, 3321.)
Even to living creatures, he was so merciful, which shows the tenderness of his heart for all things.
Mercy as a Universal Principle
The Prophet ﷺ also stressed pardon and endurance in dealing with enemies. When he himself was attacked, he rarely resorted to force in retaliation. Instead, he responded with words of wisdom and kindness:
“The strong person is not the one who can overpower others; the strong person is the one who controls himself in anger.”
(Sahih al-Bukhari, 6114)
He was merciful to all living creatures. His compassion inspired not only Muslims, across cultures and through generations, but let people who were remote in time feel depths both admirable and true.
Conclusion
Prophet Muhammad ﷺ is loved here by everyone, not just Muslims. The kindness he embodies in life transcends nationality or even humanity because love and mercy are universal human qualities.
