Who was the first human on Earth? | The Islamic View of Humanity’s Beginning

Have you ever wondered, who was the first man in this world? where did we come from? And who created us?

Allah Created Adam

This question is not just of science, but of all mankind. Almost every religion and culture in the world has an answer to this question. And Islam gives a clear, simple and beautiful answer to this question. The first man is Hazrat Adam عليه السلام (Prophet Adam).

Adam – The Beginning of Mankind

In the Quran, Allah says:

"Allah created Adam from clay."

Quran 32:7

That is, we are all from the same source, from clay. That is why Islam says that no man is superior, neither white over black, nor rich over poor, nor Arab over non-Arab.

All humans are children of one father, Adam. Therefore, the foundation of humanity is not "race" or "religion", but common origin.

The Creation of Adam – Allah’s Amazing Miracle

The Quran says that Allah first created Adam from clay and then breathed into him His spirit (ruh).

“I will create man from clay, and when I have breathed into him of My spirit, then fall down in prostration (prostrate) to him.”

Quran 15:28-29

This creation is different from the ideas of science. Science says man developed gradually, but the Quran says man was created directly by Allah.

Adam and Eve – the first pair of humanity

Allah created a pair for Adam, Eve. They were placed in Paradise, where all pleasures were. But they were given a test not to eat the fruit of a certain tree.

Satan (Iblis) tricked them into eating the fruit of that tree, and then they were sent to earth.

But this was not a punishment. It was a responsibility. Man was made a “Caliph” or representative of Allah on earth.

“I am going to create My representative on earth.”

 Quran 2:30

Adam’s Mistake and Forgiveness

Adam and Eve made a mistake, but they immediately repented. They asked Allah for forgiveness.

“Our Lord! We have wronged ourselves, If You do not forgive us, we will surely be in loss.”

Quran 7:23

Allah forgave them. In Islam, punishment is not certain for committing a sin. If one repents sincerely, forgiveness is granted. This is the beauty of Islam. Allah is not ready to punish, but to forgive.

Adam – The First Prophet

Many do not know, but Adam was not only the first human, but he was also the first Prophet.

“Allah chose Adam, Noah, Ibrahim and the descendants of Imran.”

Quran 3:33

That is, Allah guided Adam. He taught his offspring, Allah is One, He has no partner, And the life of righteousness is the true life.

All humans in Adam's descendants

Today, different colors, languages, and cultures are seen in the world,
But the Quran says that these differences are not for distinction, But for recognition.

"O mankind! We created you from a male and a female and made you into tribes and communities, that you may know one another."

Quran 49:13

That is, different religions, races, languages, all these are not to divide people, but for understanding each other.

A lesson in humanity from Adam

The story of Adam and Eve is not just a religious story, it teaches a fundamental lesson in humanity.

Admit your mistakes and apologize. Avoid arrogance. Respect each other. Believe in Allah. This teaching is equally important today. Although we have advanced technologically, have we fallen behind in humanity? This story forces us to ask this question.

References in other religions

In Hinduism, ‘Manu’ is considered the first human, in the Bible, ‘Adam’ is the first human, and the same is mentioned in the Quran.

That is, all religions agree on one truth that human beings began with a pair.
The only difference is the Quran clearly states that all this happened by the will of Allah. Humans are not a mistake of nature, but Allah’s plan.

Unity of humanity – as descendants of Adam

Since Adam is the father of all, all humans belong to one family.
Islam says,

"The entire creation is the family of Allah, and the one who treats the family of Allah best, is the most beloved to Allah."

Hadith: Musnad Ahmad

Therefore, no matter who is of different religion he is your brother as a descendant of Adam.

Adam's message for today

Today's world is full of wars, hatred, and religious conflicts, all of this comes from the idea that "we are different."

Islamic Books

But the story of Adam tells us "We are all the same". Our origin is the same, and our ultimate return is to Him, to Allah.

"As We created you, we will return you to Us."

Quran 7:25

Conclusion – The First Lesson of Humanity

The story of Adam teaches a lesson of religion, but more importantly, it teaches a lesson of humanity, that every person is valuable, that everyone deserves respect, and that true progress is treating others with love.

Final Message:

The story of Adam reminds us,
Our identity is in humanity.
We all come from the same origin,
and ultimately, we have to return to the same Creator.

So,
let us learn from the story of Adam, not to hate each other, but to live with love and respect.
